Turkey

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Turkey

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Rinse the turkey under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Rub the entire turkey with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Place the fresh herbs inside the cavity of the turkey.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ham

Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern, being careful not to cut too deep. In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, honey, and Dijon mustard until smooth. Brush this mixture over the ham and stud with cloves, inserting them into the intersections of the diamond pattern.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Roast the Turkey

Place the turkey breast side up in a roasting pan. Roast in the preheated oven for about 13-15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Baste the turkey every 30 minutes with the drippings in the pan.

  2. 4

    Roast the Ham

In the last hour of the turkey roasting time, place the ham in another roasting pan. Roast for about 10-15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C). Baste the ham with the glaze every 20 minutes.

Serving

  1. 5

    Rest and Serve

Once both the turkey and ham are cooked, remove them from the oven. Let the turkey rest for at least 30 minutes before carving. Similarly, let the ham rest for about 15 minutes. Serve sliced turkey and ham with your choice of sides.
