Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Marinate the Pork

In a bowl, combine the garlic (minced), orange juice, lime juice, cumin, oregano, salt, black pepper, and bay leaves. Add the pork shoulder and marinate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight in the refrigerator.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat. Sear the marinated pork on all sides until browned. Cover and transfer to the oven. Cook for 4-5 hours until the pork is fork-tender.

  3. 3

    Shred the Pork

Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 20 minutes. Shred the meat using two forks.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Sandwich

Slice the French bread in half and layer the shredded pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard on one half. Top with the other half of the bread.

  5. 5

    Grill the Sandwich

Heat a skillet or panini press over medium heat. Grill the sandwich on both sides until the bread is golden and the cheese melts.

  6. 6

    Serve

Slice the sandwich in half and serve warm.
