Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Cook the Penne
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 2
Prepare the Sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped chili pepper. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- 3
Add Tomatoes
Add the San Marzano tomatoes to the skillet, breaking them up with a spoon. Season with salt and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- 4
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked penne to the sauce and toss to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the pasta to absorb some of the sauce.
- 5
Finish with Basil
Remove from heat and stir in the chopped fresh basil. Adjust seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed.
- 6
Serve
Serve hot, garnished with additional basil if desired.
