Biscuit and Sausage Gravy

Method

Preparation Steps

1

Make the Biscuits

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the milk until just combined. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently. Roll out to about 1-inch thickness and cut into rounds. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

2

Prepare the Sausage Gravy

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Once cooked, sprinkle the 1/4 cup of flour over the sausage and stir for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens. Season with black pepper and salt to taste.

3

Cook the Eggs and Hash Browns

In another skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the hash browns and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per side. In the same skillet, cook the eggs to your desired style (scrambled, fried, or poached).

4

Assemble the Dish

Split the warm biscuits in half and top each half with a generous portion of sausage gravy. Serve alongside the cooked hash browns and eggs.
