Fried Prawns
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 2
Add wet ingredients
Add the beaten egg and water to the dry ingredients. Whisk until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
- 3
Heat the oil
In a deep frying pan or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
- 4
Fry the prawns
Dip each prawn into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully lower the prawns into the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary.
- 5
Golden and crispy
Fry the prawns for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Serve the golden fried prawns hot with sweet and sour sauce on the side.
