Fried Pickle Chips
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the pickle slices and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Make the Breading
In a bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- 3
Prepare the Wet Mixture
In another bowl, whisk together the egg and buttermilk until well combined.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Bread the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice into the wet mixture, then dredge in the breading mixture until fully coated.
- 6
Fry the Pickles
Carefully add the coated pickle slices to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- 8
Make the Dipping Sauce
In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, hot sauce, garlic powder, and paprika until smooth.
- 9
Serve
Serve the crispy fried pickle chips warm with the spicy dipping sauce on the side.
