Prepare the Shrimp

In a bowl, soak the shrimp in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.

Make the Coating

In a separate bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Coat and Fry the Shrimp

Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk and dredge them in the flour mixture. Fry the shrimp in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Prepare the Spicy Aioli

In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, hot sauce, and lemon juice.

Assemble the Po' Boys

Slice the hoagie rolls and spread a generous amount of spicy aioli on each side. Add lettuce, tomato slices, and top with crispy shrimp.
