DARK Alaskan Holiday Tea

Method

DARK Alaskan Holiday Tea

  1. 1

    Prepare the blend

In a large bowl, combine the black tea leaves, Lapsang Souchong, crushed juniper berries, dried cranberries, orange zest, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and cardamom. Mix gently to distribute flavors.

  2. 2

    Heat the water

    In a kettle, bring 4 cups (1 liter) of water to a near-boil: about 205-212°F (96-100°C).

  3. 3

    Steep the blend

Place the tea blend in a teapot or infuser. Pour the hot water over the blend and let it steep for 7-9 minutes, depending on desired strength.

  4. 4

    Strain and sweeten

Strain the tea into a warmed pot or mugs. Stir in birch syrup (1 tablespoon) and adjust with more to taste.

  5. 5

    Serve and garnish

Divide the tea into 4 mugs. Garnish with a strip of orange zest or a cinnamon stick if desired. Serve hot.
