Merengue Ingredients

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 200°F (90°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Whip the Egg Whites

In a clean, dry mixing bowl, beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until they start to form soft peaks.

  3. 3

    Add Sugar Gradually

Gradually add the granulated sugar, continuing to beat until the mixture is glossy and holds stiff peaks.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Cornstarch and Vinegar

Gently fold in the cornstarch, vinegar, and vanilla extract until just combined.

  5. 5

    Shape the Merengue

Using a piping bag or spoon, dollop the meringue mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, making small peaks.

  6. 6

    Bake the Merengue

Bake in the preheated oven for 1.5 to 2 hours or until the meringues are dry and crisp. Turn off the oven and let them cool inside for an hour.

  7. 7

    Serve

Once cooled, serve the Molotoff as is or with a drizzle of chocolate or fruit sauce.
