Broth Ingredients

Preparation

Preparing the Broth

1. Sauté the Aromatics

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

2. Combine Tomatoes and Broth

Add the crushed tomatoes, fish stock (or chicken broth), and red wine to the pot. Stir to combine.

3. Season the Broth

Add the bay leaves, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 15 minutes to meld the flavors.

Cooking the Seafood

4. Add the Seafood

After the broth has simmered, add the Dungeness crabmeat, scallops, shrimp, clams, mussels, calamari, and market fish to the pot. Stir gently to combine.

5. Simmer until Cooked

Cover the pot and let the seafood cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the clams and mussels have opened and the shrimp and fish are cooked through.

6. Finish the Dish

Remove the bay leaves, stir in the chopped parsley, and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed.
