Ravioli Dough

Method

Prepare Dough

  1. 1

    Mix the Dough Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the eggs and water. Using a fork, gradually mix the flour into the eggs until a rough dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Wrap in plastic wrap and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.

Prepare Filling

  1. 3

    Cook the Beef and Onions

In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Cook until the beef is browned and the onions are translucent. Drain any excess fat.

  2. 4

    Mix Filling Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture with the four blend cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.

Assemble Ravioli

  1. 5

    Roll Out Dough

After the dough has rested, divide it into four pieces. Roll out each piece on a floured surface until thin, about 1/16 inch thick.

  2. 6

    Cut and Fill Ravioli

Using a ravioli cutter or a knife, cut the dough into squares. Place about 1 tablespoon of filling in the center of each square. Moisten the edges with water, fold over, and press to seal.

Cook Ravioli

  1. 7

    Boil the Ravioli

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the ravioli and cook for 4-5 minutes or until they float to the surface. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain.

  2. 8

    Bake with Sauce

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking dish, spread a layer of marinara or meat sauce. Place the cooked ravioli on top and cover with the remaining sauce. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top.

  3. 9

    Bake the Ravioli

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until bubbly and golden.

Serve

  1. 10

    Garnish and Serve

Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Sprinkle with fresh basil before serving.
