Base

Chocolate Ganache

Method

Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for baking the dessert.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Mix until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Wet and Dry

Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. 5

    Bake the Base

Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center.

  6. 6

    Cool the Base

Once baked, remove from the oven and allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Chocolate Ganache Preparation

  1. 7

    Heat the Cream

In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring the heavy cream to a simmer, stirring occasionally.

  2. 8

    Add Chocolate Chips

Once the cream is simmering, remove it from the heat and add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and butter. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes to melt the chocolate.

  3. 9

    Mix Ganache

Stir the mixture until smooth and glossy. If the ganache is too thick, you can add a little more warm cream to reach your desired consistency.

Assembly and Garnishing

  1. 10

    Pour Ganache Over Cake

Once the base is completely cooled, place it on a serving plate and pour the chocolate ganache over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides.

  2. 11

    Garnish

Decorate the top with fresh berries and mint leaves for an elegant finish.

  3. 12

    Serve

Slice the dessert into wedges and serve chilled or at room temperature.
