Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough

In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

  1. 5

    Cook Ground Beef

In a skillet over medium heat, add ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes.

  2. 6

    Add Seasonings

Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 1-2 minutes.

  3. 7

    Mix in Marinara and Cheese

Remove from heat and mix in the marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese until well combined.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 8

    Roll Out Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle (about 12x16 inches).

  2. 9

    Add Filling

Spread the beef mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

  3. 10

    Roll and Seal

Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the edges to seal and tuck the ends under.

  4. 11

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the roll seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

  5. 12

    Serve

Let the roll cool for a few minutes, then slice into pieces. Serve with BBQ sauce or marinara for dipping.
