Main Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap or parchment paper and pound them to an even thickness, about ½ inch thick. Season both sides of the chicken with salt and black pepper.
- 2
Set up the Breading Station
In three shallow plates, set up a breading station. In the first plate, add the all-purpose flour. In the second plate, beat the eggs. In the third plate, combine the bread crumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
Breading and Cooking
- 3
Bread the Chicken
Dredge each chicken breast first in the flour, shaking off the excess. Then dip it in the beaten eggs, allowing any excess egg to drip off. Finally, coat the chicken in the bread crumb and Parmesan mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- 4
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the breaded chicken breasts in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer the cooked chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Assembly and Baking
- 5
Assemble the Dish
In a baking dish, spread half of the marinara sauce on the bottom. Place the cooked chicken breasts on top of the sauce. Spoon the remaining marinara sauce over the chicken, and then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly on top.
- 6
Bake the Chicken Parmesan
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
