Method
Chocolate Cake

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add Boiling Water
Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth (the batter will be thin).

Bake the Cake
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Cool the Cakes
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Salted Chocolate Sauce

Heat Cream
In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

Melt Chocolate
Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips and butter. Stir until melted and smooth.

Add Salt
Stir in the sea salt and set aside to cool slightly.
Brandied Cherries

Add Brandy
Remove from heat and stir in the brandy. Allow to cool before serving.
Assembly

Serve
Serve slices of the chocolate cake topped with brandied cherries and a drizzle of salted chocolate sauce. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
