Calamari and Sauce
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.
- 2
Coat the Calamari
Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until hot (about 350°F or 175°C).
- 4
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the coated calamari rings to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Prepare the Sauce
In a small saucepan, heat the arrabbiata sauce over low heat until warmed through.
- 6
Garnish and Serve
Serve the fried calamari hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves, alongside the arrabbiata sauce for dipping.
