Fries

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick) to create fries.

  2. 2

    Soak the Fries

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry with a paper towel.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the dried fries to the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.

  5. 5

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil and drain on paper towels. While still hot, season with salt and pepper to taste.
