Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Octopus

Clean the fresh octopus by removing the beak and innards. Rinse it thoroughly under cold water.

  2. 2

    Boil the Octopus

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add the cleaned octopus and reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook for about 30-40 minutes until tender.

  3. 3

    Grill the Octopus

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Once the octopus is cooked, remove it from the pot and let it cool slightly. Cut it into manageable pieces and grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side until slightly charred.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Salad Base

In a large bowl, combine the arugula and chopped romaine lettuce.

  5. 5

    Make the Dressing

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon zest, fresh black pepper, and salt to taste.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Salad

Top the arugula and romaine with the grilled octopus. Drizzle the dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve immediately while the octopus is warm, and enjoy your grilled calamari salad!
