Cooking Instructions
Prepare the Fish
Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
Make the Breading
In a shallow bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, and a pinch of salt. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and lemon juice.
Fry the Fish
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Carefully add the breaded fish fillets and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Assemble the Sandwich
On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the fried fish fillet, tomato slices, and a generous dollop of tartar sauce. Top with the other half of the bun.
Serve
Serve the fish sandwiches immediately while hot, with extra tartar sauce on the side if desired.
