Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into even sticks, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, heavy pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of dried potato sticks to the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt and pepper to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the French fries hot, with your choice of dipping sauces.
