Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Mozzarella
Slice the fresh mozzarella into thick rounds, approximately 1/2 inch thick. If using a ball of mozzarella, drain any excess liquid and pat it dry with a paper towel.
- 2
Heat the Olive Oil
In a small saucepan, heat the extra virgin olive oil over low heat. Allow it to warm gently, making sure it does not reach a boiling point.
- 3
Add Seasonings
Once the olive oil is warm, add a pinch of salt and a pinch of black pepper to the oil. Stir gently to combine the seasonings.
- 4
Warm the Mozzarella
Carefully place the mozzarella slices into the warm olive oil, ensuring that they are coated in the oil. Allow them to sit in the oil for about 2-3 minutes until they are warmed through but not melted.
- 5
Add Fresh Basil
After warming, remove the mozzarella from the oil and arrange it on a serving plate. Tear the fresh basil leaves and sprinkle them over the mozzarella slices.
