Tiki Mojito Base

Method

Tiki Mojito Base

  1. 1

    Prepare glass and mint

In a sturdy highball or tiki glass, add the granulated sugar and fresh lime juice. Add the fresh mint leaves on top of the sugar and lime.

  2. 2

    Muddle

Gently muddle the mint leaves with the sugar and lime juice using a muddler or the back of a spoon. Press just enough to release the oils from the mint without shredding the leaves (about 6–8 firm presses).

  3. 3

    Add rum and ice

Pour the white rum into the glass. Fill the glass about three-quarters full with crushed ice (approximately 1 cup). Stir briefly (6–8 gentle stirs) to dissolve remaining sugar and chill the mixture.

  4. 4

    Top with sparkling water

Top the drink with 3 oz of chilled sparkling water (club soda). Give one gentle short stir to integrate the soda without flattening the bubbles.

Garnish & Optional Flavor Add-Ins

  1. 5

    Optional flavor addition

If adding flavor, pour 0.5 oz of your chosen flavored syrup (mango, passion fruit, or raspberry) over the top after the sparkling water. Give one very gentle stir to incorporate the syrup evenly. Note: add $1 for flavor.

  2. 6

    Garnish and serve

Finish with a sprig of mint tucked into the crushed ice and a lime wheel on the rim. Serve immediately with a straw and a short stirring stick so the guest can refresh the muddled mint as they sip.
