Optional Frozen Variation
Method
Prepare Glass
- 1
Rim
Rub the lime wedge around the rim of a margarita or rocks glass. Dip the rim into the coarse sugar or margarita salt placed on a small plate to coat evenly. If you want a blue accent, mix the granulated sugar with a drop of blue food coloring and sprinkle lightly over the rim after the main coating (optional).
Build the Cocktail (Shaken)
- 2
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice (about 1 cup).
- 3
Add 2 oz silver tequila, 1 oz triple sec, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and 1.5 oz strawberry simple syrup to the shaker.
- 4
Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and diluted slightly.
- 5
Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice (if serving on the rocks).
- 6
Slowly pour 0.5 oz blue raspberry liqueur or blue curaçao over the back of a spoon held just above the drink surface so it gently sinks and creates a layered blue swirl through the pink strawberry base—this gives the 'Spidey' two-tone effect.
Frozen Variation (Optional)
- 7
If you prefer a frozen Spidey, combine 2 oz tequila, 1 oz triple sec, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 1.5 oz strawberry simple syrup (or 2 oz strawberry purée), and 2 cups crushed ice in a blender.
- 8
Blend on high until smooth and slushy, about 20–30 seconds depending on blender strength.
- 9
Pour into the prepared glass, then drizzle 0.5 oz blue raspberry liqueur slowly over the top to create a blue swirl. Do not blend after adding the blue liqueur if you want the two-tone look.
Garnish & Serve
Simple Strawberry Syrup (Makes ~8 oz)
- 12
To make strawberry simple syrup: combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan. Add 1 cup chopped fresh or frozen strawberries. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Simmer 5 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool. Strain out solids and refrigerate. Use 1.5 oz per cocktail.
