Method

Rim & Prep

  1. 1

    Prepare the rim

Combine Tajín and fine sea salt on a small plate. Run the lemon wedge around the outer edge of a chilled coupe or rocks glass to wet the rim, then dip the rim into the Tajín-salt mixture, twisting to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.

Make Honey Syrup (if not pre-made)

  1. 2

If you don’t have honey syrup ready, make quickly: combine equal parts honey and hot water (about 2 tablespoons each). Stir until honey fully dissolves, cool briefly before using. Measure 0.5 oz for the cocktail.

Cocktail Assembly

  1. 3

Add 2 oz blanco tequila, 0.75 oz orange liqueur, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice and 0.5 oz honey syrup into a cocktail shaker.

  2. 4

Fill the shaker with ice (about 6 cubes). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted.

  3. 5

Double-strain (using a Hawthorne strainer and fine mesh strainer) into the prepared Tajín-rimmed glass. If you prefer over ice, pour over one large ice cube in a rocks glass instead of serving neat.

  4. 6

Garnish with an orange twist or a thin orange slice. Express the orange twist over the drink to release oils, then drop it into the glass.

  5. 7

Serve immediately and enjoy the sweet-honey, citrus-forward cocktail with the salty-spicy Tajín rim.
