Prepare glass
Fill a highball or hurricane glass with ice to chill while you build the drink.

Mix base
In a cocktail shaker, add 1 cup of ice, 1.5 oz Hypnotiq, 1 oz Malibu coconut rum, 3 oz pineapple juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice and 0.25 oz simple syrup (if using).

Shake
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 8–12 seconds until the shaker is cold and well mixed.

Strain and layer
Discard the ice from the chilled glass and fill it with fresh ice. Strain the shaken mixture into the glass over the fresh ice. If you prefer a more pronounced blue top, slowly pour an extra 0.25 oz Hypnotiq down the side of the glass to create a layered gradient.

Adjust sweetness
Taste and, if desired, add up to 0.25 oz more simple syrup to suit your sweetness preference. Stir gently once to combine.

Skewer the pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry on a cocktail pick, and place it on the rim of the glass. Add a lime wheel on the rim or float it in the drink.

Serve immediately with a straw and enjoy. Optionally, provide a short stirrer so guest can blend the blue layer into the punchy pineapple base if desired.
