Method

Preparing the Meatballs

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

With your hands, form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet.

  3. 3

    Bake Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through.

Sautéing the Vegetables

  1. 4

    Prepare Vegetables

Slice the bell peppers and onion into thin strips.

  2. 5

    Sauté Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced bell peppers and onions, and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are tender and slightly caramelized.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 6

    Heat Marinara Sauce

In a saucepan, heat the Ricco's marinara sauce over low heat until warmed through.

  2. 7

    Add Meatballs to Sauce

Once the meatballs are baked, add them to the marinara sauce and let them simmer for 5 minutes.

Assembling the Sandwiches

  1. 8

    Prepare Hoagie Rolls

Slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise, making sure not to cut all the way through.

  2. 9

    Fill Rolls

Place a few meatballs on each hoagie roll, top with sautéed peppers and onions, and spoon marinara sauce over them.

  3. 10

    Add Cheese

Sprinkle Italian cheeses on top of the filled rolls.

  4. 11

    Toast Sandwiches

Place the assembled sandwiches under a broiler for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
