Fried Fish Po Boy Ingredients
Method
Preparation Directions
- 1
Prep the Fish
In a large bowl, soak the white fish fillets in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes to tenderize and flavor the fish.
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a separate bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, Cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Bread the Fish
Remove the fish from the buttermilk and allow excess to drip off. Dredge each fillet in the cornmeal mixture, ensuring it is well-coated.
- 5
Fry the Fish
Carefully place the breaded fish fillets into the hot oil. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Assemble the Po Boys
Slice the baguettes lengthwise, but not all the way through. Spread a generous amount of remoulade sauce on the inside of each baguette. Place the fried fish fillets inside, then top with shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and pickles.
- 7
Serve
Cut the Po Boys in half and serve immediately with extra remoulade sauce on the side.
