Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Mussels

Rinse the mussels under cold water to remove any sand or debris. Discard any mussels that are open or damaged.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Shrimp

If not already done, peel and devein the shrimp. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Slice the Chorizo

Slice the chorizo sausage into 1/4 inch rounds.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Garlic Butter

In a bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic and chopped parsley. Set aside.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Cook the Chorizo

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced chorizo and cook until browned and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 6

    Add Seafood

To the skillet with chorizo, add the cleaned mussels and shrimp. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir gently to combine.

  3. 7

    Cover and Steam

Cover the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels open and the shrimp turn pink. Discard any mussels that do not open.

  4. 8

    Prepare the Garlic Bread

While the seafood is cooking, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the French bread in half lengthwise and spread the garlic butter evenly on each half.

  5. 9

    Bake the Garlic Bread

Place the prepared garlic bread on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until golden and crispy.

Serving

  1. 10

    Plate the Dish

Once the seafood is cooked, remove from heat and serve immediately with the garlic bread on the side. Garnish with extra parsley if desired.
