Main Ingredients

Whipped Honey Butter

Method

Jambalaya Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Meats

In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the sliced Andouille sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove and set aside.

  2. 2

    Sauté Chicken

In the same pot, add the chicken thighs and cook until browned on all sides, about 6-8 minutes. Remove and set aside with the sausage.

  3. 3

    Sauté Vegetables

Add the green bell pepper, onion, and celery to the pot. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Stir in the rice, Cajun seasoning, diced tomatoes (with juice), bay leaves, and chicken broth. Bring to a boil.

  5. 5

    Add Meats and Shrimp

Return the cooked sausage and chicken to the pot. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes. Add the shrimp in the last 5 minutes of cooking.

  6. 6

    Season and Serve

Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Remove bay leaves before serving.

Whipped Honey Butter Preparation

  1. 7

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter, honey, and ground cinnamon.

  2. 8

    Whip Together

Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip the mixture on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. 9

    Serve

Transfer the whipped honey butter to a serving dish and refrigerate until ready to use. Serve with the jambalaya.
