Directions
- 1
Prepare the Prime Rib
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Rub the prime rib roast with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Place it in a roasting pan.
- 2
Roast the Prime Rib
Roast the prime rib in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Then, reduce the temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare. Adjust cooking time for your preferred doneness.
- 3
Rest the Meat
Remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for 20 minutes before slicing.
- 4
Prepare the Au Jus
While the meat is resting, heat the beef broth in a saucepan over medium heat. Scrape any browned bits from the roasting pan into the broth for added flavor. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
- 5
Slice the Bread
Slice the French bread into thick slices while the meat is resting.
- 6
Assemble the Sandwich
Thinly slice the rested prime rib. Place slices on the French bread and drizzle with au jus. Garnish with fresh parsley.
- 7
Serve
Serve with additional au jus on the side and optional horseradish sauce if desired.
