Crabmeat Patty

Method

Assembly and Baking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Crabmeat Mixture

In a bowl, gently combine the fresh crabmeat, bread crumbs, egg, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to break up the crabmeat too much.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Shape the crabmeat mixture into patties, about 1 inch thick. You should have around 4-6 patties, depending on the size.

  3. 3

    Bake the Patties

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with olive oil. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Tartar Sauce

While the patties are baking, prepare your homemade tartar sauce by mixing together 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons chopped pickles, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, and salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.

  5. 5

    Toast the Buns

Lightly toast the sandwich buns in a skillet or toaster until golden brown.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Sandwich

Place a baked crabmeat patty on each toasted bun, add a generous dollop of tartar sauce, and top with fresh lettuce. Close the sandwich and serve immediately.
