Hand-Cut Fries Ingredients

Method

Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into even sticks, about 1/4 inch thick, to ensure uniform cooking.

  2. 2

    Soak the Fries

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  4. 4

    Fry the Potatoes

Remove the fries from the water and pat them dry with a towel. Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pot.

  5. 5

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. While still hot, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to taste.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the hand-cut fries immediately while hot, with your choice of dipping sauces.
