Method

Preparing the Dungeness Crab

  1. 1

    Cook the Crab

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 2 tablespoons of Old Bay seasoning. Carefully add the Dungeness crabs to the boiling water. Cover and cook for about 8-10 minutes, or until the crabs turn bright orange. Remove the crabs and let them cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Serving

Serve the crab with lemon wedges and melted butter for dipping.

Making the Blue Cornbread

  1. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of blue cornmeal, 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt.

  2. 4

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together 1 cup of milk, 1 large egg, and 1 tablespoon of melted butter.

  3. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  4. 6

    Bake the Cornbread

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Pour the batter into a greased 8-inch square baking dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
