Preparation and Caramelization
- 1
Prepare the Custard
In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, milk, and 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat until the mixture is hot but not boiling. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and your choice of flavoring.

- 3
Bake
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center. Remove from the oven and let them cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- 4
Caramelize the Sugar
Once the custards are chilled, sprinkle a thin layer of granulated sugar on top of each custard. Using a kitchen torch, caramelize the sugar until it forms a crispy shell. If you don’t have a torch, you can place them under a broiler for 1-2 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
- 5
Serve
Top each crème brûlée with a dollop of whipped cream and serve immediately.
