Tofu Preparation
- 1
Press the Tofu
Start by pressing the tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top for about 30 minutes.
- 2
Cut the Tofu
Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.
- 3
Coat with Cornstarch
In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with 1 cup of cornstarch until evenly coated.
- 4
Fry the Tofu
In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the cornstarch-coated tofu and fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Orange Sauce
- 5
Prepare the Sauce
In a small saucepan, combine the fresh orange juice, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- 6
Thicken the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix the 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry. Slowly add this slurry to the simmering sauce, stirring continuously until it thickens, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.
Combine and Garnish

Combine Tofu and Sauce
In a large bowl, combine the crispy tofu and the orange sauce, tossing gently to coat the tofu evenly.
- 8
