Method

Preparation of Beef

  1. 1

    Slice the Beef

Thinly slice the beef sirloin against the grain into bite-sized strips and place in a bowl.

  2. 2

    Prepare Marinade

In a separate bowl, mix together the soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Pour the marinade over the sliced beef and toss to coat. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Cooking the Broccoli

  1. 3

    Blanch the Broccoli

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and blanch for 2-3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.

Stir-Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

  2. 5

    Cook the Beef

Add the marinated beef to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

  3. 6

    Make the Stir-Fry Sauce

In the same skillet, combine beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Stir well to combine and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

  4. 7

    Combine and Heat

Add the blanched broccoli and cooked beef back to the skillet. Toss everything together to coat in the sauce and heat through for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Garnishing

  1. 8

    Serve

Transfer the beef and broccoli to a serving platter. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
