Method

Prepare Noodles

  1. 1

    Cook Chow Mein Noodles

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 2 cups of Chow Mein noodles and cook according to package instructions until tender. Drain and set aside.

Prepare Vegetables

  1. 2

    Chop and Prepare Vegetables

While the noodles are cooking, prepare the vegetables. Julienne the carrots, slice the bell peppers, and shred the cabbage. Chop the green onions and set all vegetables aside.

Prepare Sauce

  1. 3

    Mix Sauce Ingredients

In a bowl, combine 1 cup of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of sesame oil, 4 teaspoons of minced garlic, 2 teaspoons of minced ginger, 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, and 2 cups of water. Whisk until well combined.

Cook Protein (optional)

  1. 4

    Cook Chicken and Shrimp

In a large skillet or wok, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add 2 cups of sliced chicken or shrimp and cook until fully cooked and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Combine and Cook

  1. 5

    Stir-Fry All Ingredients

In the same skillet or wok, add the prepared vegetables and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they start to soften. Add the cooked noodles and protein (if using) back into the skillet.

  2. 6

    Add Sauce and Cook

Pour the sauce mixture over the noodles and vegetables. Stir well to coat everything evenly. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and everything is heated through.

  3. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat and garnish with the chopped green onions. Serve hot and enjoy your medium Chow Mein noodles!
