Preparation
- 1
Measure the Rice
Measure out 10 cups of white or brown rice using a standard measuring cup.
- 2
Rinse the Rice
Place the measured rice in a large bowl and rinse under cold water to remove excess starch. Rinse until the water runs clear, then drain thoroughly.
Cooking
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a large pot, combine the rinsed rice, 20 cups of water, and 2 tablespoons of salt.
- 4
Bring to a Boil
Cover the pot and bring the mixture to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low.
- 5
Simmer
Let the rice simmer on low heat for 18-20 minutes for white rice, or 40-45 minutes for brown rice, until all the water is absorbed.
- 6
Fluff the Rice
Once the rice has finished cooking, remove it from heat and let it sit covered for an additional 10 minutes. Then, fluff the rice gently with a fork.
