Method

Preparation of Marinade

  1. 1

    Make the Marinade

In a large mixing bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, chopped thyme, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Whisk together until well combined.

Marinating the Steak

  1. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the large beef steak in a shallow dish or large resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for a minimum of 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 3

    Prepare the Grill or Oven

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat or preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). If using a grill, ensure the grates are clean and lightly oiled.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

Remove the steak from the marinade and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Grill the steak for about 6-8 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until it reaches the desired doneness. For oven roasting, place the steak on a baking sheet and roast for approximately 30-40 minutes, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness.

  3. 5

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the grill or oven and let it rest for at least 10-15 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Preparing Accompaniments

  1. 6

    Cook the Vegetables

While the steak is resting, prepare the vegetables. In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add the vegetables and sauté until tender, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serving

  1. 7

    Slice and Serve

Slice the rested steak against the grain into thick slices. Serve alongside the sautéed vegetables.
