Method

Preparing Noodles

  1. 1

    Cook the Chow Mein Noodles

Bring 6 cups of water to a boil in a large pot. Add 1 tsp of salt for flavor.

  2. 2

    Boil the Noodles

Add the Chow Mein noodles to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions (usually about 3-5 minutes) until al dente.

  3. 3

    Drain the Noodles

Once cooked, drain the noodles in a colander and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process.

Preparing Vegetables

  1. 4

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the noodles are cooking, julienne the carrots, slice the bell pepper, chop the green onions, and shred the cabbage.

Making the Sauce

  1. 5

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, 1 cup of water, minced garlic, minced ginger, and sugar until well combined.

Combining Everything

  1. 6

    Stir-Fry the Vegetables

In a large pan or wok, heat a little oil over medium-high heat. Add the prepared vegetables and stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes until they are tender yet crisp.

  2. 7

    Add Noodles and Sauce

Add the drained noodles to the pan with the vegetables. Pour the sauce over the top and toss everything together until evenly coated. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve the Chow Mein

Once everything is heated through, remove from heat and serve hot. Enjoy your Chow Mein Noodles!
