Method

Noodles Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Noodles

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the chow mein noodles and cook according to package instructions, usually about 3-5 minutes until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Protein Cooking

  1. 2

    Cook Chicken and Shrimp

In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced chicken breast and cook for about 5 minutes, until it is no longer pink. Add the shrimp and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the protein from the skillet and set aside.

Vegetable Stir-Fry

  1. 3

    Stir-Fry the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil if needed. Add the shredded cabbage, julienned carrot, sliced bell pepper, and chopped green onions. Stir-fry for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Make the Sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water until smooth.

Combine and Serve

  1. 5

    Combine Everything

Add the cooked noodles, protein, bean sprouts, and sauce to the skillet with the vegetables. Toss everything together and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through and the sauce has thickened slightly.

  2. 6

    Season and Serve

Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve hot and enjoy your homemade Chow Mein!
