Method

Prepare Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cook the Patties

  1. 3

    Heat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat a grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you may add a teaspoon of oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each one. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the hamburger buns in half and lightly toast them on the grill or in a toaster, if desired.

  2. 6

    Add the Toppings

On the bottom half of each bun, layer a leaf of lettuce, a slice of tomato (sliced into rounds), and pickles. Place the cooked cheeseburger patty on top.

  3. 7

    Add Condiments

Add ketchup and mustard to taste on the top half of the bun, then place it on top of the assembled burger.
