Tortilla Chips

Fresh Salsa

Method

Tortilla Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tortillas

Cut each corn tortilla into 6 equal wedges to form chips.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large heavy-bottomed pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add a batch of tortilla wedges to the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  4. 4

    Season the Chips

While the chips are still warm, sprinkle them with salt to taste.

Fresh Salsa

  1. 5

    Chop the Vegetables

Dice the ripe tomatoes, finely chop the red onion, and remove the seeds from the jalapeño before finely chopping it. Chop the cilantro leaves roughly.

  2. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped red onion, jalapeño, and cilantro.

  3. 7

    Add Lime Juice and Salt

Drizzle the lime juice over the mixture and sprinkle with salt. Stir gently to combine.

  4. 8

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the salsa and adjust the seasoning with more lime juice or salt if needed.
