Method

Chips Preparation

  1. 1

    Cut the Tortillas

Cut each corn tortilla into 6 equal triangles using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add a few tortilla triangles to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, flipping occasionally.

  4. 4

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the chips from the oil and drain them on a paper towel-lined plate. Sprinkle with salt while they are still hot.

Salsa Preparation

  1. 5

    Chop the Vegetables

Dice the tomatoes, red onion, and jalapeño pepper. Remove the seeds from the jalapeño for less heat, if desired.

  2. 6

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño, and chopped cilantro.

  3. 7

    Add Lime and Season

Squeeze the juice of the lime over the mixture and add salt. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

  4. 8

    Chill and Serve

Allow the salsa to sit for at least 15 minutes to let the flavors meld together. Serve with the freshly made tortilla chips.
