Fries

Method

Fries Preparation

  1. 1

    Cut Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak Potatoes

Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, then drain and pat dry.

  3. 3

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Fry Potatoes

Carefully add the potatoes in batches to the hot oil and fry until golden and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Season Fries

While fries are still hot, sprinkle with salt to taste.

Asada Preparation

  1. 6

    Marinate Steak

In a bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and lime juice. Add the flank steak and marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 7

    Cook Steak

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated flank steak for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.

  3. 8

    Rest and Slice

Remove the steak from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.

Assembly

  1. 9

    Layer Fries

On a large plate or serving dish, layer the crispy fries evenly.

  2. 10

    Add Steak

Top the fries with the sliced asada steak.

  3. 11

    Add Toppings

Sprinkle shredded cheese over the steak, then add dollops of guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo. Finish with sliced jalapeños to taste.

  4. 12

    Serve Immediately

Serve the asada fries immediately while they are hot and enjoy!
