Method
Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Bananas
Peel the ripe bananas and mash them in a bowl until smooth. Set aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well. Add the mashed bananas, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and stir until a smooth batter forms.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. You can check if the oil is hot enough by dropping a small amount of batter into it; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.
Frying Steps
- 4
Fry the Fritters
Using a spoon, drop small amounts of batter into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown on one side, about 2-3 minutes, then carefully flip and fry for another 2-3 minutes on the other side.
- 5
Drain and Cool
Once golden brown, use a slotted spoon to remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serving Steps
- 6
Serve with Ice Cream or Sorbet
Serve the crispy banana fritters warm, optionally topped with scoops of vanilla ice cream or sorbet. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
