Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the tofu

Drain the firm tofu and wrap it in a clean kitchen towel. Place a heavy object on top to press out excess moisture for about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 2

    Cut the tofu

After pressing, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.

  3. 3

    Coat the tofu

In a large bowl, mix the cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss the tofu cubes in the mixture until they are evenly coated.

  4. 4

    Heat the oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the tofu

Carefully add the coated tofu cubes to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Drizzle the fried tofu with soy sauce and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
