Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Prime Rib

Remove the prime rib from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 1 hour before cooking. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).

  2. 2

    Season the Meat

In a small bowl, mix together the kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, and thyme. Rub the mixture all over the prime rib, ensuring even coverage. Drizzle with olive oil and rub it in.

  3. 3

    Roast the Prime Rib

Place the seasoned prime rib on a roasting rack in a roasting pan. Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes at 450°F (232°C) to develop a nice crust.

  4. 4

    Lower the Temperature

After 20 minutes, reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (medium-rare is about 135°F or 57°C).

  5. 5

    Rest the Meat

Once cooked to your liking, remove the prime rib from the oven and tent it with aluminum foil. Let it rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing to allow juices to redistribute.

  6. 6

    Serve

Slice the prime rib against the grain and serve with your favorite sides.
