Cooking Instructions
- 1
Preparation
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- 2
Season the Prime Rib
In a small bowl, mix together the kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this mixture all over the prime rib roast. Drizzle with olive oil and rub it into the meat. Sprinkle the fresh rosemary and thyme over the roast.
- 3
Searing
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Once the butter is melted and sizzling, add the seasoned prime rib roast and sear on all sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- 4
Roasting
Transfer the seared prime rib to a roasting pan. Place it in the preheated oven and roast for 15 minutes. Then, reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue to roast for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
- 5
Resting
Remove the prime rib from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.
- 6
- 7
Serving
Slice the prime rib and serve with the sauce drizzled on top.
