Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the Akaushi Wagyu beef steak dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Let the steak sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate and for even cooking.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Sear the Steak

Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and let it heat until shimmering. Place the seasoned steak in the skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a brown crust forms. Flip the steak and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, or adjust the time as desired for your preferred doneness.

  2. 3

    Rest and Serve

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute. Slice against the grain and serve immediately.
